Blue Ribbon Farm  -  Whats New?

Hi Everyone --

April 19th marks the opening of Emerald Downs for the 2013 season.  Numerous Blue Ribbon Farm-breds will be running on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, including Private Password, Aliciasfirecracker, Sweet Nellie Brown, and Atta Boy Lucky.  Blue Ribbon Racing #7 will be running Eagle Harbor in the 4th race on Saturday, so we are pretty excited about that.  In training for ourselves and additional Blue Ribbon Racing syndicates are Muchas Coronas, Private Fortune, Uptownfreddybrown, and See My Tail Lites.  We will be letting you know when these horses will be running.  On any day on which we have a horse running, there are always free passes at the gate (will call, wicket #13) so that you can join us.

I hope you are following our facebook page, blueribbonfarm.com (also the name of our website), as their are loads of pictures of the new foals as well as our drop dead gorgeous new stallion ATTA BOY ROY.  I try to keep posts going out daily or every other day so you can find out what's happening on the farm.  We have 9 more mares to foal, and it's all very exciting.

FINDING MORE, the filly we bred which was champion 2yo WA-bred filly in 2013 will be running in the Star Shoot Stakes at Woodbine (in Toronto) on Saturday.  We can use all the support for her we can get.

Update February 2, 2013 - Atta Boy Roy will be entering stud at Blue Ribbon Farm this year! See his Page.

Update March 27, 2013 - Ocean's Fourteen is booked to Coast Guard. / Victoria Cross is booked to Atta Boy Roy

Update - late Dec., 2012

Right at the end of the year we got a major update -- FINDING MORE (2010 filly by Trickey Trevor out of Greenmountain Girl by Green Dancer) won the Letellier Memorial S. at the Fair Grounds in New Orleans.  Finding More, which Ky. bloodstock agent Dan Kenney purchased from our consignment for $4,500 in the WTBOA 2011 sale, has been a filly to watch since her first start at Presque Isle Downs.  She has since won at Woodbine -- breaking her maiden, won at Churchill Downs -- in an entry level allowance, and now has won her first stakes race at the Fair Grounds.  We wish all the best to her connections, and we can't wait to see what comes next!

The 2012 racing year was a good one, with stakes performances by JEBRICA, SWEET NELLIE BROWN, OIL COUNTRY, PRIVATE FORTUNE, and now FINDING MORE.

Private Fortune races for Blue Ribbon Racing #2, and we are looking forward to her return to the races in 2013, along with Eagle Harbor (racing for Blue Ribbon Racing #7), and the newly turning two-year-olds Uptownfreddybrown (Nationhood - Brown), and See My Tail Lites (Matty G - Lite Nite), which will race for Blue Ribbon Racing #8 and #9 respectively.  If you are ever interested in a sharing the fun of racing, contact us.  We have a great time.

We are enjoying watching our 2012 youngsters as they grow, and we can't wait for the new crop of 2013 foals which will start arriving just around the corner.  We expect foals by POSSE, FREUD, HARBOR THE GOLD, STEVIE WONDERBOY, NATIONHOOD, BIRDSTONE, COAST GUARD, LIBERTY GOLD, AND MATTY G.

The NATIONHOODS are off to the races in 2013!

The September 4th WTBOA Summer and Mixed Sale is next up on our agenda.  You can see pictures of our Summer Yearling consignment on the "Foals of 2011" page.  Our consignment features the first crop of NATIONHOOD.  I think you will agree that his foals look outstanding!  In addition, we have a colt by PETIONVILLE out of 2011's Washington Broodmare of the Year, PEACEFUL WINGS.  We hope to be able to show you these outstanding yearlings in the flesh from September 1st on at the sales grounds.  If you would like to see them before then on the farm, contact us.

With the fantastic 2011 racing year in which we were Washington's LEADING BREEDER to spur us on, the 2012 year is rapidly becoming equally as memorable, with stakes performance so far by JEBRICA, SWEET NELLIE BROWN, OIL COUNTRY, and PRIVATE FORTUNE (Private Fortune races for Blue Ribbon Racing #2).  Impressive maiden wins were scored by Amazing Legacy, De La Luna (which races for Blue Ribbon Racing #6), and Muchas Coronas (which races for Blue Ribbon Farm).

We have a great group of foals of 2012 -- including an April 12th HARD SPUN colt out of our newest mare, stakes winner SWEET FOURTY.  The breeding season went well for us -- all four mares we sent to out of state sires are in foal -- to FREUD, POSSE, BIRDSTONE, and STEVIE WONDERBOY.

What Do We Do?

  • Breed and raise Thoroughbred equine athletes for sale.
  • Manage outside mares (of any breed) for foaling and rebreeding.
  • Stand the thoroughbred stallion NATIONHOOD.
  • Agent clients horses at WTBOA sales.
  • Create and manage racing partnerships.
  • Advise on orphan foal and nurse mare management.

Blue Ribbon Farm is a 70 Acre Thoroughbred breeding farm located near Buckley, Washington, in the shadow of Mt. Rainier.

Owned by Debbie and Rick Pabst since 1973, the farm is home to approximately 15 broodmares and their offspring, which are sold as yearlings at the Washington Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association (WTBOA) public auctions.

We take pride in breeding and raising outstanding equine athletes in our spacious pastures. Outside mares are welcomed to foal here and be bred back to local stallions or inseminated (for those breeds for which it is allowed) using cooled, shipped semen. We consistently achieve conception rates in the 90th percentile. Dr. Jeff Stenslie is our current attending veterinarian and provides horses at Blue Ribbon Farm with top quality veterinary care.

We have always been active in bringing new stallions into Washington, and we are now standing NATIONHOOD.  We own shares in many Washington stallions, so contact us if you need a season.  Blue Ribbon Racing will be syndicating two new horses.  We are also available to help you find nurse mares and manage orphan foals.
