What's New?

We are standing a stallion in 2010! See NATIONHOOD'S page under the Stallions and Shares tab. Free nicking for your mares is available through the TrueNicks link, and video of his stakes wins is available on his Thoroughbred Times stallion register page. Just click on the link, and then click on "walking video".

Our racing syndications were very successful in 2009, and we have two new youngsters, STELLAR BLUE and ZYDECKO DANCER as well as returning stakes performer PRIVATE FORTUNE for 2010. For more information check their pages under the Racing Syndications tab. We are also racing ANGEL'S KEEP in partnership with Richard and Gaylin Landeis, and in our own ownership, GREEN MOUNTAIN BOY.

The 2010 foals are arriving! Check the foals of 2010 tab.

ATTA BOY ROY, bred by Patricia Murphy and Blue Ribbon Farm was voted Washington-bred champion sprinter and handicap horse of 2009. He set a new EMD 6 furlong track record and state record for the 6 furlong distance last year in the Chinook Pass Sprint S., 6 furlongs in 1:07 flat!
FLASH! ATTA BOY ROY wins the Grade II Churchill Downs Stakes on Kentucky Derby Day!
(More about ATTA BOY ROY here).

What do we do?

  • Breed and raise Thoroughbred equine athletes for sale.
  • Manage outside mares (of any breed) for foaling and rebreeding.
  • Stand the thoroughbred stallion NATIONHOOD.
  • Agent clients horses at WTBOA sales.
  • Create and manage racing partnerships.
  • Advise on orphan foal and nurse mare management.

Blue Ribbon Farm is a 70 Acre Thoroughbred breeding farm located near Buckley, Washington, in the shadow of Mt. Rainier.

Owned by Debbie and Rick Pabst since 1973, the farm is home to approximately 15 broodmares and their offspring, which are sold as yearlings at the Washington Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association (WTBOA) public auctions.

We take pride in breeding and raising outstanding equine athletes in our spacious pastures. Outside mares are welcomed to foal here and be bred back to local stallions or inseminated (for those breeds for which it is allowed) using cooled, shipped semen. We consistently achieve conception rates in the 90th percentile.  As Dr. John Procter, our skilled veterinarian will be retiring at the end of 2009 (Thank you, John, for your great work!), Dr. Jeff Stenslie will be joining the Blue Ribbon Farm team in 2010. (Welcome, Jeff!)

We have always been active in bringing new stallions into Washington, and for the first time we will be standing NATIONHOOD, entering stud in 2010.  We own shares in many Washington stallions, so contact us if you need a season.  Blue Ribbon Racing will be syndicating two new horses.  We are also available to help you find nurse mares and manage orphan foals.
